In the excellent book, “Blink” by Malcolm Gladwell, he talks about a highly successful car salesman who sells more than 20 cars per month, Bob Golomb. He says, “You cannot prejudg people. Prejudging people is the kiss of death. You have to give everyone your best shot.” He goes on to talk about a farmer he serves who approaches in his dungarees and cow dung. He is absolutely loaded though he doesn’t broadcast it. Bob Golomb edits out first impressions built on appearance when he wants to make a sale.
